I. Unpack it
Double-click the download in Finder, or in Terminal:
unzip woodentable-0.7.3-macos-aarch64.zip
Inside is one program, woodentable.
II. Put it on your PATH
Move it to a folder your shell searches for programs:
sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/bin
sudo mv woodentable /usr/local/bin/
Using the disk image? Copy woodentable out of it first, then link it: sudo ln -s ~/Applications/woodentable /usr/local/bin/woodentable
III. Let macOS run it
Woodentable is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS normally runs it without asking. If it says it can't check the program for malicious software, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
IV. Run it once, and accept the licence
woodentable
The first time, it shows a short notice and asks you to accept the licence agreement: type a and press Enter, or v to read it first. You're then at its console; type exit to leave.
Your agent starts Woodentable without a terminal, where it can't ask, so this has to be done once first. To see which version you have, run woodentable version.
V. Connect it to your agent
Add Woodentable as an MCP server. For Claude Code:
claude mcp add woodentable -- woodentable serve -name woodentable
In another client's MCP settings, the command is woodentable and its arguments are serve -name woodentable.
Optional. Run local models on your GPU
Woodentable runs models on the CPU out of the box. On Apple silicon, add the Metal backend:
woodentable pkg install metal
