Woodentable

Usage statistics

Thank you for helping us improve Woodentable. Each day it sends us counts of which parts are used and how well they work, so we know where our effort is best spent. You can see exactly what they hold, and turn them off.

What a report holds

  • How often each command, option and feature was used, and how well: how many sessions, tool calls and scripts ran, how long they took, and how many failed.
  • The Woodentable version, your operating system and processor.
  • The date you first ran Woodentable, and an install ID: a random number chosen on that first run and kept on your machine.

A report never holds arguments, file or folder names, file contents, prompts, model output, error messages, or the names of your own tools, servers, models or profiles. The Privacy Policy says what we keep and for how long.

When it's sent

When you start the console, ai or serve, and every hour while it runs, it sends the counts for each day that has ended, one report per day. A short command such as woodentable version is counted but sends nothing.

Nothing is counted until you've accepted the licence agreement. Accepting it automatically with -accept-eula or WOODENTABLE_ACCEPT_EULA, such as when starting a container, counts too; set WOODENTABLE_STATS=0 beside it to turn counting off.

See what's sent

woodentable stats
woodentable stats show
woodentable stats show -json

stats lists the counts waiting and whether they'll be sent. stats show lays out the next report, including your install ID, and -json prints it exactly as sent.

Turn it off

woodentable stats off
woodentable stats on

stats off stops the counting and deletes the counts waiting to be sent. At a terminal it asks first; answer yes. stats on turns it back on.

Either of these in the environment turns it off for one run, whatever the setting:

VariableMeaning
DO_NOT_TRACK=1The common do-not-track request, which Woodentable honours
WOODENTABLE_STATS=0The same, in Woodentable's own name

Replace your install ID

woodentable stats reset

This picks a new install ID, counts your first run from today, and deletes the counts waiting to be sent. Counting carries on under the new ID. Reports already sent keep the old one; the Privacy Policy says how to ask us to delete them.
